Specialty Shows, Features and Podcasts
Special circumstances call for special features! Here are a few examples of shows and features that draw on my interviewing, writing, and production skills.
Holiday Pops
The glitz and glamour come out for the annual holiday pops concert. The show includes kid favorites from holiday movies, Hollywood and Broadway stars, and even a visit by St. Nick.
The Nutcracker: Act II
Everyone loves to see The Nutcracker during the holidays, but what is the story really about it? This preview of Act II is a walk-through with guests Gil Boggs, Artistic Director of Colorado Ballet, and Music Director Adam Flatt.
Remembering Columbine
The Columbine High School band was set to leave for an out-of-state tournament on April 20th, 1999. They were preparing Frank Ticheli’s “Shenandoah” for the competition when tragedy struck at Columbine High School. Hear the little-known story of how the music community united to reflect the tragedy and the resilience of that terrible day. This is a podcast for CPR News, but a version of this aired on CPR Classical as part of an hour-long remembrance of Columbine on the 20th anniversary in 2019.
The Great Composers: Mozart
Conductor Scott O’Neil joins me for a five episode podcast detailing the remarkable life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In this episode, Mozart breaks free from his controlling employer to make it on his own as “The People’s Composer.” Credit: Jon Pinnow for audio production.
